Early pick-up and drive to Mollepata for breakfast. The trek begins en route to Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft). Midway, visit the stunning Humantay Lake, a bright turquoise glacial lagoon. Camp overnight in Soraypampa under the stars.
This is the toughest day. You’ll climb to Salkantay Pass (4,650 m / 15,255 ft), the highest point on the route. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, you'll descend into the warmer jungle zone of Chaullay. Overnight in tents.
Today’s hike transitions through lush landscapes filled with waterfalls, coffee plantations, and fruit trees. Enjoy interaction with local communities. Camp in Lucmabamba, with an optional visit to hot springs nearby.
Hike up through an Inca trail to the archaeological site of Llactapata, where you’ll catch your first view of Machu Picchu from afar. Descend to the hydroelectric station and walk to Aguas Calientes. Overnight in a comfortable hotel.

Optional hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (advance booking required). After exploring, return to Aguas Calientes, then take the train back to Ollantaytambo and a transfer to Cusco.
