The Lares Trek is a cultural and scenic hiking route that offers authentic interaction with Andean communities, breathtaking landscapes, and a peaceful journey to Machu Picchu. Ideal for travelers who seek connection with local life and majestic nature without large crowds.
The Lares Trek 4D/3N is a beautiful alternative to the Classic Inca Trail. Unlike other routes, this experience offers close encounters with traditional villages, Andean farmers, and untouched valleys. Each day presents a different landscape, from hot springs and high passes to lush valleys and glacial lakes — ending with a magical visit to Machu Picchu.
We leave Cusco early and head to Lares, where we’ll relax in its natural hot springs. Afterward, we begin hiking toward Huacawasi (3,800 m.a.s.l.), passing by agricultural terraces and herding paths. Along the way, we meet Quechua-speaking locals wearing traditional handwoven clothing. Camp overnight in Huacawasi.
This is the most scenic day. We ascend to the Ipsaycocha Pass (4,450 m), the highest point of the trek, where we'll enjoy sweeping views of glacial valleys, wild alpacas, and snow-covered peaks. Afterward, we descend to Patacancha, an ancient weaving town where we camp.
Today’s hike is more relaxed. We pass through Willoq, another traditional Andean village, then drive to Ollantaytambo, where we board the train to Aguas Calientes. After hotel check-in, enjoy a free afternoon to explore the town or rest before the big day.
Early morning bus ride up to Machu Picchu. Your professional guide will walk you through the main sectors:
the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, Inca Houses, farming terraces, and panoramic viewpoints.
After your guided tour (approx. 2 hours), enjoy free time for exploration before returning to Cusco by train and transfer.
