The Choquequirao Trek is a challenging and authentic experience that leads you to one of the most sacred and isolated Inca cities in Peru. Known as Machu Picchu’s “sister city,” this site offers archaeological wonders, majestic views, and deep Andean silence — all without the crowds.
The 4-day Choquequirao Trek is a high-altitude adventure through one of the most mysterious and least-visited Inca sites in the Andes. Hidden in a remote canyon, Choquequirao features extensive temples, platforms, agricultural terraces, and ceremonial centers — still being excavated to this day.
Early pick-up and drive to Capuliyoc (2,900 m), the starting point of the trek. From here, you’ll descend into the impressive Apurímac Canyon, one of the deepest in South America. The trail leads to Playa Rosalina (1,500 m), near the river. Overnight at a riverside campsite.
After breakfast, a tough uphill hike takes us to Marampata (2,900 m), where we rest and enjoy beautiful views. From there, we continue along a scenic path to reach the Choquequirao ruins (3,100 m), nestled between forested ridges. Camp near the site.
In the morning, we explore the archaeological complex in depth:
the Main Plaza, ceremonial platforms, farming terraces, temples, and areas still under excavation. Later, we begin the return trek — descending back to Playa Rosalina and climbing up to Chiquisca, where we spend the night.
Final morning ascent to Capuliyoc, where our transport awaits. After a celebratory breakfast or snack, we drive back to Cusco, arriving by 6:00 p.m.
